Jihad - The British Connections

The latest story in the on-going revelations about Europeans heading off to far away lands to fight for jihad involves two British schoolgirls travelling to Syria to become ‘jihadi brides’.

Twins Salma and Zahra Halane – 16 years old and of Somali descent - telephoned their parents in Manchester to inform them that they did not plan to return.  The girls, who entered Syria via Turkey, disappeared from their home in late June.  Police are now investigating how the trip was funded and whether the cost may have been met by jihadi fighters seeking wives.  The girls’ older brother is known to Greater Manchester police and is also known to have travelled abroad.
